Disability Equality Duty
The Disability Equality Duty legislation came into force on 4th December 2006.
The new law has been welcomed by the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) as the beginning of a new journey for public authorities, heralding important new rights for disabled people.
The Disability Equality Duty requires the public sector to promote disability in the same way that they are required to promote racial equality under the Race Relations Act.
